The PQB Fruit Tree Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to building food security and community engagement in Parksville / Qualicum Beach.
Our mission is to build community wellness by growing, gleaning, and distributing healthy locally grown food to everyone. We’re intent on building stronger local food systems, food sovereignty and food independence for years to come.
We started in 2014, gleaning neighbourhood trees as a way to rescue food for the Food Bank, and reduce waste.
Since then, we’ve rescued 1000s of pounds of food, and developed other community building projects, like our Community Pantry. Our current flagship project is the MAC Community Garden, and it’s from here we that we operate our society. The garden is a 4400 public space, devoted to growing food, educating our neighbours on how to grow it, while providing a unique public space.
